John Russell Duffy, BMus(hons), BTh, ATCL, MISM – studied at James Gillespies High School, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), and Napier University Edinburgh. He studied piano with Ann Scott (RSAMD), trombone with Kevin Thompson (Scottish Opera Orchestra), and performance with Bryan Free (Royal Scottish National Orchestra). He holds a Bachelor of Music degree with honours, and diplomas in Music from the University of St Andrew’s and Trinity College, London.

As a musician he has appeared on both TV and radio and in concerts with various orchestras and ensembles throughout the UK. Based in Edinburgh, he is also a skilful music engraver, organist, composer and arranger and runs a successful music teaching practice in Edinburgh, currently with 40 piano students.

He is a professional member of the Independent Society of Musicians (formerly the Incorporated Society of Musicians) and the Royal College of Organists, has a fully up-to-date DBS certificate, and is a professional instrumental teacher of piano.
